What is the borsch?

The borsch is the main course of an Ukrainian cuisine. Its indispensable component is a table beet. English-speaking foreigners usually name a borsch - beet root soup. And they so it naming are undoubtedly right. So the basic tone in taste of a borsch is set by a beet.

Besides a beet root at a borsch are present: tomatoes, onions, cabbage, potato, carrots and etc. For a broth use the beef bones and meat. But often happens that use for a broth and pork and mutton and even chicken meat.

Usually in a borsch add sour cream. Sour cream is added already after the borsch is poured on plates.

The borsch is a dish fat and nourishing, as well as any other typically country food. The borsch hardly can be carried to healthy food. But if you want to feel native Ukrainian smack - you need eat some borsh.
